This is an auction for 2 knives a victorinox Mauser and German Army Knife both in good condition indeed the Mauser is as new. Included are 2 slightly tatty boxes and instructions. The Mauser has one more blade than the GAK and the logos differ. These are RARE and I hate selling them.
The Victorinox Mauser knife is a retired pocket knife that was designed for the German market. It is very different from most other Swiss Army knives-- with an alternate shell design and shell color, larger blades, a unique saw-bottle opener combination and no slots for toothpick and tweezers.
The Mauser name was licensed from Mauser-werke Obendorf GmbH, and the knife was intended as a companion for the Mauser rifle.
The Mauser pocket knife is no longer in production-- it was retired in the 1980's. This model is an extremely popular item for collectors, and sells at a premium price.
Mauser Swiss Army knives are large (4 1/4" / 108mm) and very rugged. They contain the following tools:
Large Blade (3 1/4" / 84mm)
Large Clip Point Blade
Wood Saw with Bottle Opener and Screwdriver
Also included in this lot
The German Army Knife, or GAK, is a 108mm knife manufactured by
Victorinox and was official issue for German troops (Bundeswehr). This
knife marks a touch point in Victorinox's history, with them
manufacturing knives for the German Army as well as initiating the 108mm
platform. The GAK was the first knife on the 108mm platform, and has a
unique tool design amoung Victorinox's other frame sizes. The
multi-layer 108mm knives are also unique in that all the tools open in
the same direction, which means all the main layer tools pivot at the
same end of the knife
